One really chill moose

No squirrel though

Shortly after the bear up a tree we were continuing though the park when we came by another car parked on the side of the road.
Emily and her eagle peepers spotted a moose about 15 ft off the side of the road down in the ditch.
So we wip around at the next chance and come back, parking on the opposite side of the road. My telephoto lens was in the trunk and had to make due with the 24-105 that was on the camera.

Keep in mind that it was pretty dark at this point so had to shoot at max ISO, the autofocus wasn't working, and it was too dark to see well enough for manual focusing so that was pretty tedious.

So after the other car left we drove a head to find somewhere to turn around again and grab the telephoto lens.
So drove a few hundred meets ahead to a little pull off and trun and grab the lens. As we pulled off another moose was 80 ft a head and took off into the woods.

If you don't know anything about moose, they are basically bigger, meaner, horses that are just as likely to bash your head in as they are to run away.

So getting out of the car knowing there a moose in the darkness was a bit scary, but I grabbed the lens and we whipped back around.

This time I was able to park on the near side of the road and point my headlights toward the moose. This moose barely moved the whole time.

It was so late and dark that we had to move on again.
We saw another moose a little ways off the side of the road later.

Disclaimer:
Yes we were probably too close to the moose. Moose are scary and needed to be treated with respect.
