This last weekend a restored flying B-29 visited the local airport. They had flights that you could get tickets for but they cost an stupid amount of money. So we went and stood near the runway to watch it take off.
Engine warm up
A bit of history
At the mid-to late part of the second world war the allies (mostly the US) needed a long range high altudide bomber. The need to reach Japan got more and more important but the vast distances made it very diffuclt.
This resulted in a long and expensive development project. According to Wikipedia the development and production of the B-29 cost more than the Manhattan project.
It required new technology that hadn't been used before. It was the first pressurized production bomber made.
Side note
I had been staying away from Black and White becuase I thought it was over used, but thought this picture might look good.
But if you have thoughts, please let me know.
There will be a few other posts from this, but this will just have pictures from the take off and landing.
While there wasn't much wind, we had hoped that it would land in the same direction it took off in so we went down to one end of the runway, but it landed in the other direction so the pictures weren't as good.
