Horse Pull 2019

One of my favorite post and time taking pictures was the Orono fair horse pull last year. It was a very challenging shoot given the lack of light and the desire to stop the motion of the horses. This time you can see the light get darker through the shoot.

Its bright enough at this point for it not to be that much of a problem.

I was trying to get the moment the horses really start to pull and they are digging their feet but it was hard given how they started.

As it started to get darker I was already at the max appature for my main lens, F4. I had brought my little nifty fifty. It has a max aperture of F1.8 which is more then 2 full stops more then F4. The rest are shot with that lens.

The auto focus on the lens was somewhat lacking as can be expected so i couldn’t track while shooting very well. I need more prime lens.
