Friendly Grouse

Me and Emily went for a little trip today, off roading for the last time before the snow hits too hard. One section of the trip was along a trail between a couple fields. We spotted a grouse along the side of the trail. We stopped and looked at them for a minute.

We thought “oh that is cool” and went to drive on, about 10 meters down the road a saw motion to the side and the Grouse had flown up beside us.

The grouse then followed us another 100 meters or so.
Even when we reversed a bit to get a better view for pictures. We also got out a moment and she still stuck around.

We had to leave her behind after a couple ATVs came up behind on the trail and we needed to get out of the way.

It was hard to get photos though all the little branches as the out of focus branches in front of the bird where hard to see though the view finder.
Most photos were taken at 1/400s or higher but there were a couple photos that didn’t completely stop the motion.

I love taking pictures of birds when you can see the feathers. I love the detail in them, the lines, and freezing the motion.
